The Kelly Hoppen International Design Awards celebrates the best design that China has to offer. Every year, a panel of celebrity judges, will be charged with the fiendish task of selecting winners for each category.
Kelly Hoppen MBE has been heralded as a leading name within the design industry for many decades, and has decided to use her expertise, profile and yearn for philanthropy work to launch her own awards scheme. In certain realms, Kelly identified a clear lack of support for up-and-coming designers, especially within the female design community, which sparked the idea for this new, all-encompassing awards platform that will celebrate all forms of design.
The module of the awards will be created and perfected, with the goal of moving its location to key design destinations throughout the following years; Moscow, New York, Cape Town and Los Angeles. Eventually Kelly would like the platform to support designers, through either a scholarship or a grant via universities or design businesses. To be able to integrate the whole community, from education level through to sponsorship level, means that the awards itself has great potential for both success and longevity.
Kelly plans to partner with the most recognized brands and involve some of the biggest players within the creative industry. The concept will see her co-host the awards with a local established designer; Steve Leung will be the first in Shanghai. With a black book to rival any, Kelly has access to the most relevant people of our time and would like to be able to offer a platform to some of the 20 million interior designers and architects that are pushing for success within China.
Submissions for the Awards will remain open until January 2020.
